FKM / FPM / Viton O-rings are premium fluorocarbon sealing rings designed for applications requiring exceptional chemical and thermal resistance. FKM (ASTM designation) and FPM (DIN/ISO 1629) refer to the same fluorocarbon elastomer, while Viton is the well-known trade name.
These O-rings offer outstanding resistance to oils, fuels, aggressive chemicals, solvents, ozone, UV radiation and ageing. Their excellent stability under high temperatures makes them suitable for harsh industrial, chemical and automotive environments.
Available in 70, 75 and 80 Shore A hardness, these O-rings provide the right balance between flexibility, dimensional stability and extrusion resistance. With an operating temperature range of –20 °C to +200 °C (short-term peaks up to +220 °C), FKM/FPM/Viton O-rings ensure long service life in static and dynamic sealing applications.
Chemical Compatibility:
FKM/FPM is compatible with:
• mineral oils and greases
• fuels (petrol, diesel, biodiesel)
• aliphatic, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons
• hydraulic fluids (HFD)
• silicone oils and greases
• many solvents and aggressive chemicals
• ozone, weathering, UV exposure
Not recommended for:
• glycol-based brake fluids
• polar solvents (acetone etc.)
• superheated steam (special grades required)
• hot water and amines (special compounds)
• low-molecular organic acids
